Seniors: What You Need to Know

Walnut Creek has the tradition of showing a slideshow highlighting its graduating seniors at the end of the ceremony. A “senior” photo and a baby/toddler photo need to be sent to Maria. Please send your pictures to mattiacem@wdmcs.org. Deadline is Friday, May 9.
 

Senior fees are $50. The fee pays for the diploma cover, gap, gown, and tassel. Fees can be paid through InTouch on the Infinite Campus portal or in person at Walnut Creek main office. Questions? Call Jen at 515-633-6403.

Seniors who attended an elementary school or junior high in the district are invited to return to their home schools to celebrate their graduation on Wednesday, May 21.

See School-Specific Times 

Any senior who did not attend a WDMCS elementary or junior high is encouraged to contact their previous schools to learn if they host a similar Seniors Come Home event.

Your WDMCS Chromebook must be turned in before you graduate. Please keep in mind that you should NOT turn it in until you are SURE you are done with your classwork. Some teachers may require use of the Chromebook until your last day.

When you are sure you are done with it, you may turn it in WITH YOUR CHARGER any time during the following window:

• May 21-22, 2025 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the VHS Media Center.
• You must have the charger AND Chromebook at the time of check in.  If you have lost the charger, you will be billed the actual cost of the replacement charger (approximately $22).
• Chromebooks not turned in will be locked and considered lost. You will be billed the actual cost of the replacement Chromebook (approximately $346).

Important Note: Soon after graduation, you will lose access to your @wdmcs.org email address and any files created in that account — Google Docs, Slides, etc. To keep your documents, you must download or transfer data to a personal account.

10 a.m. to noon at Valley High School’s Performing Arts Center

IMPORTANT: All students need to be seated by 10 a.m. Please arrive no later than 9:45 a.m. to park and find a seat in the auditorium.

• This is the only practice for the actual commencement ceremony.
• The practice will last approximately two hours.
• Caps and gowns will be distributed starting Monday, May 20. You must be graduated in order to receive your gap and gown.

7 p.m., Thursday, May 22
Valley Performing Arts Center | 3650 Woodland Ave, West Des Moines

• The Staplin Center will open 30 minutes before the event start time. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m.)
• Graduates should arrive before 6 p.m. and gather in the drama room behind the stage.
• The event will be livestreamed on Youtube. Feel free to share with family and friends who are unable to attend the graduation ceremony.
